Project Overview

Backstory

It all began with a common friction point: recurring debates with my partner about who was shouldering more household chores. Despite our mutual suspicion that the other was contributing less, our solution-oriented approach led us to recognize we needed a system to objectively assign, track and manage responsibilities.

Backstory

We later discovered research on self-serving bias, explaining why people typically overestimate their own contributions. Through ethnography, we found many couples struggle with this same perceived inequity and lack tools to manage their chores. This insight drove us to create Nunu—a data-driven mobile app grounded in behavioral science that streamlines household organization while promoting equal contribution, transforming domestic tension into productive collaboration.

Problem Statement

Household responsibilities are often poorly distributed and lack proper coordination, leading to tension and frustration among family members or flatmates. People struggle to maintain routines, forget chores, or aren’t fully aware of what tasks need to be done. Cognitive biases, such as overestimating one’s own contribution, or unequal distribution of mental load can exacerbate misunderstandings and conflicts even further.
